This guide is for the girl who just wants to get away, treat herself, and maybe do some minor-celeb-spotting. We just spent a couple of days in sunny LA to get away from the East Coast freeze. Here’s what we did and loved.
Gjelina This place is legit. Don’t let the reviews about long wait-times scare you. Here’s what we did: Get there at 5pm, and grab a seat at the communal table. Order the grilled mackerel and a couple of cocktails. Then go window-shopping on Abbot Kinney Blvd. 1429 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA
Sugarfish If you want super fresh sushi for lunch, this place is it. There are a few locations, but we loved the Beverly Hills location for excellent people-watching. Order the “Trust Me” or “Trust Me Lite” — for a very reasonable price, the chef will choose what to bring to your table. Warning: The space is pretty small, so there is a bit of a wait time. 212 North Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, CA
Sqirl You guys. The hype over this hotspot is WORTH it. It was so good we took a Lyft ride to this place not once, but twice during out trip. Order the classic sorrel pesto rice bowl, but also try one of their brioche toasts with jam. You won’t regret it. 720 Virgil Ave #4
The Line A Koreatown gem for the design-minded. Hipsters and arty-types seemed to gather here to see and be seen. We loved our stay here. Protip: The cafe downstairs has amazing coffee, granola, and juices for breakfast, and The Commissary restaurant on the second floor is delicious as well. 3515 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010
Intelligentsia Go to the Sunset Blvd. location for a much-needed break from all the walking, shopping, and exploring — it’s an oasis of young twenty-somethings lounging and lazing about. Don’t do what we did though and order from the wrong counter ;) 3922 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029
Blue Bottle Okay, okay. We know that most of you have probably had Blue Bottle in other locations. But we really loved the airy interiors of this particular one in West Hollywood — a nice break after walking through the ultra touristy Grove. *8301 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048 *
Abbot Kinney Blvd. Our favorite part of visiting Venice. Spend the afternoon strolling along this street, grabbing ice cream at Salt & Straw for a nice treat, and window-shopping at all the cool shops.
Heath Ceramics A stylish ceramicware showroom mecca for yuppies everywhere. The studio is in the back — make sure you take a peek! 7525 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036
Poketo Our favorite store for super chic knick knacks, iPhone cases, tote bags, and other accessories. If you’re staying at The Line hotel, you’re in luck — there’s a Poketo on the first floor. 3515 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010
The Now Oh my god. If you need the ultimate treat yo’ self moment during your vacation, go here. The 60-minute massage is completely worth it, and the interior decor of this place is killer to boot. 7611 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036
